Protection from business? That's a joke. Also, much of the burden for what you listed is paid for by the states worth.
Income tax? Bullshit. If my income is taxed I should get credits for all the items I consume. Instead, we pay (state) sales tax and property tax. Own an S-corp? Congrats, you're taxed on what you don't spend, preventing you from hiring more employees. Own a C-Corp? Get ready to pay income tax AND corporate tax (double taxation). Want to invest? Get ready to stroke a capital gains tax check. The icing on the cake? Paying "estimated" taxes on what the government "thinks" you'll earn. "You paid too much? Oh, sorry, you can have it back...WITHOUT interest." bastards The "government" should at least mail everyone a balance sheet--showing where all of our money is being spent--but that's not possible because no one really knows and there's no motivation (nothing is in it for "them") to do so. I'm all for voting, but get a clue, the government hasn't "given" us anything. Unless you count self-serving rhetoric. bleh |

Well, Comp if seeing how your money really is being spent will put you in a bad mood, you might not want to go here.
I know I'm a little pissed that the US spends 360 billion a year paying off interest on the national debt and it only spends 32 billion on education. I think it should be required that politicians know how to balance a checkbook before they can take office.

Education is largely a State/County/Local system, more than Federal. I'd like to see how much State/County/Local taxes are spent on Education. Find me a link, Sky.

The big one should be defense. You guys should look at the budget of 25 years ago and compare it to now. Health and Human Services is largely a bunch hand out BS involving so-called entitlements. I don't want anything from my government except essential services like roads, defense, monetary system, and reluctantly education. I....nevermind, I could debate this for days and don't really want to do it here.
